1. Purpose
Puyallup Family Tree ("the Service") is a community research tool for documenting family history and genealogical connections related to the Puyallup Tribe of Indians and associated tribal communities. The Service is provided for educational and cultural preservation purposes.
2. User Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
3. Your Content
You retain ownership of any information you submit ("Your Content"). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display Your Content within the Service for the purposes of operating the family tree platform. Content you mark as "Private" will only be visible to you. Content you mark as "Public" will be visible to all users of the Service.
4. Privacy & Data
We collect only the information you provide: your email, display name, and family tree data. We do not sell, share, or distribute your personal information or private family data to third parties. Public records are visible to other users of the Service. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting the site administrator.
5. Accuracy
Family history information is provided on an "as-is" basis. While we strive for accuracy, genealogical records may contain errors. Users are encouraged to verify information through primary sources (census rolls, vital records, tribal enrollment records) and to report errors through the built-in reporting system. We make no guarantees about the accuracy or completeness of any information in the Service.
6. Respectful Use
This Service documents real people and real families. Users agree to:
- Treat all family information with respect and cultural sensitivity
- Not submit deliberately false or misleading information
- Not use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any individual or family
- Respect the privacy of living individuals — do not share sensitive personal information (addresses, phone numbers, financial information) about living people without their consent
- Honor tribal cultural protocols regarding the sharing of certain types of information
7. Public Historical Records
The Service contains information derived from public records including but not limited to: U.S. Indian Census Rolls, FindAGrave memorials, published obituaries, newspaper articles, court records, and tribal news archives. This information is already publicly available and is compiled here for research and cultural preservation purposes.
8. Error Reporting
If you believe any information in the Service is incorrect, please use the "Report an Error" feature on any person's page. We will review all reports and make corrections as appropriate. If information about you or your family is displayed and you would like it removed or corrected, please contact us.
9. No Enrollment Decisions
This Service is a research and cultural preservation tool only. Information in this Service should not be used as the sole basis for tribal enrollment decisions, legal proceedings, or official determinations of tribal membership or blood quantum. Contact the Puyallup Tribe Enrollment Department for official enrollment matters.
10. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to errors in genealogical information, data loss, or unauthorized access to your account.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
